What IPPA Accredits: Defining a Program

IPPA accredits programs, not individuals or institutions. This distinction is essential—especially as Positive Psychology education spans diverse formats, from brief workshops to multi-year degree pathways.

Definition of a Program

A program is a structured educational offering with clearly defined learning outcomes that align with the science and practice of Positive Psychology or wellbeing. Eligible formats include:

  • Stand-alone workshops or short courses

  • Multi-session certificates or diploma programs

  • Credit-bearing academic courses or full undergraduate/graduate degrees

Programs may be offered by private training providers, individual educators, nonprofit organizations, or academic institutions.

To qualify for IPPA accreditation, a program must:

  • Be clearly structured and outcome-oriented

  • Align with one or more of IPPA’s five accreditation levels

  • Demonstrate research-informed content and ethical delivery

  • Provide documentation of curriculum, instructional methods, and learner assessment processes

IPPA embraces a wide range of delivery models, recognizing the diversity and innovation that enrich Positive Psychology education globally.
